    The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting residents to obtain employment with required timeframe.  Provides guidance for job search activities, and monitors job performance and retention.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    May perform one or more of the following:

    • Meets with each newly admitted resident to obtain information on their interests, skills, employment, and educational background.  Routinely meets with residents during their stay to monitor their job search progress and to offer additional advice.
    • Maintains log of employment resources and job leads which is available to all residents.  Utilizes computer-based resources for job search leads.  Supervises resident access to internet resources for job search activities.
    • Offers suggestions on certain jobs for residents to pursue.  Assists with resume writing, interviewing skills, and general job readiness skills.
    • Investigates job leads according to each individual resident’s skills, interests, and experience.
    • Establishes and maintains contact with employers in accordance with SOW requirements. 
    • Conducts individual and group sessions relative to employment.
    • Maintains contact with potential employers, job fair opportunities, and other job lead resources. 
    • Refers residents to job search or training organizations in the area.
    • Coordinates with Case Managers and other staff to ensure successful job search and job retention.
    • Attends necessary meetings, conferences, and training within CRJ and with outside providers. 


    • Knowledge of job search strategies, resume writing, verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong communication, interpersonal and judgment skills
    • Ability to work as a team player, as well as independently
    • Ability to listen, provide encouragement, and deal with frustration is important aspects of this position


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BS/BA from an accredited college or university in Social or Behavioral Science, or related field. 
    • Minimum of one year of experience in social services field, prefer experience with a correctional or similar population.
