The Crime and Justice Institute (CJI), a division of Community Resources for Justice (CRJ), is a non-profit organization working at the local, state, and national level provides technical assistance, research and other services to improve outcomes in the corrections system, policing, pre-trial, re-entry, community supervision, juvenile justice, and more. CJI provides direct technical assistance, assessment, implementation, research, data analysis, training, facilitation, and more. With staff who have worked as practitioners across the sector and understand and serve as a bridge between research and practice, our team brings decades of experience developing evidence-based, data-driven policies, managing complex processes with diverse stakeholders, and driving systems-level organizational change.
This position will oversee and manage complex projects and the oversight of project teams. Policy Specialists are specialized experts who provide direct technical assistance to clients and funders, as well as providing mentoring, coaching and leadership to project teams.
Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, and the maturity, superior interpersonal skills, and keen judgment needed to facilitate productive interactions with a variety of professional audiences. The ideal candidate for this position is able to work efficiently, is well-organized and detail-oriented, and can prioritize quickly and confidently. The position requires extensive writing assignments; qualified candidates must have experience with current criminal and/or juvenile justice research, organizational development and change theory, and exhibit excellent writing and critical thinking / analytic skills as well as comfort with an intensive editing process. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as part of multiple teams. The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and virtually-based work environment is critical. Some travel is required.

Relevant bachelor degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with work experience in criminal and/or juvenile justice policy, administration, and research.
